Constant observation and annoying advertising?

Today it has almost become normal to be observed by websites or apps during all activities on the internet according to all rules of art and to be evaluated for any purpose. Most of the time it’s primarily about advertising. When developing myTRS, it was clear to us from the very beginning that we wanted to swim against the stream.

Where’s the advertising around here?

Do you miss the advertising on myTRS? Neither on the website nor in the blog, and certainly not in the web app they appear, the usual images and videos? Selling you something you talked about yesterday with a friend? There are coincidences – you could almost assume that the digital world is sometimes extremely indiscreet.

In any case, the kind of advertising that is auctioned off in real time by large Internet companies when you visit a website will take a long time to find on myTRS. And there’s a reason for that: we just didn’t add something like that.

What advertising is there in myTRS?

However, there is advertising in myTRS. But: Only advertising messages from persons or companies to which you also have a connection. Want an example?

If you use a coupon that allows you to purchase a license at a reduced price, you will see an advertising message after logging into the web app. This area in myTRS is called the “showcase” and provides information in the form of text, image and link to the issuer of the coupon you are using. Not endless, but only for the duration of the validity of the license purchased at a discount with this coupon.

From our point of view an acceptable thing: From time to time see the showcase of the coupon provider, but buy the license cheaper. Fair, right?

Why does myTRS abstain from tracking cookies?

So-called tracking cookies are used to identify you as a person every time you access certain websites on the internet. They are stored on your internet device and can contain a wide variety of information about you.

But they always have the purpose to observe you and your behaviour – and to draw any conclusions from these observations. Or, even simpler: To just sell your data to interested companies. In today’s internet, this approach has become a successful business model.

We don’t like that because we just don’t think it’s right. Why should an app need to know so much about its users? Why can’t we just be sparing with our users’ data? And that’s exactly what we’re trying to do with myTRS, because we think it’s fairer and more ethical.

What does this mean for you as a user of myTRS?

So we try to do everything we can to ensure that you provide as little of your personal information as possible. And we certainly don’t want to observe how you use the Internet. Because all this does not interest us, because it is about your privacy.

But where there is light, there is also shadow: Unfortunately, the absence of some observation technologies also means that the comfort of use may be somewhat lower than it would be technically possible. We hope that you will understand that we value respect for your privacy more than any loss of comfort. For us in any case, this decision was immediately clear.

What does this mean for us as provider of myTRS?

For us at myTRS, this means two things: Firstly, for us the users of our web app are in fact the customers – and not the product that is resold to advertising giants. We don’t even want to think about how much money we lose by not using this common practice.

But on the other hand, we know that the users of myTRS appreciate this ad-free zone: right at the beginning of the consideration of what myTRS should become, this point was quite high on the list of requirements. And finally, the licenses are also subject to a fee: we don’t have to enrich ourselves by constantly monitoring your usage behavior and selling your personal data.

We will see how many of our customers appreciate this approach. However, we offer to enter into a fair and long-term partnership with you, where you can rely on each other.
